Lakeport police said they are searching for the vandals responsible for a spree of property damage totaling at least $400,000, including doors and windows repeatedly smashed at the Lake County Library.

Police Chief Brad Rasmussen said the incidents began Feb. 27 when glass doors were smashed at the library on North High Street as well as the Pet Country store on North Main Street.

Then on March 1 an unknown driver completely smashed three pedestrian crossing signs on North Forbes Street in front of Lake County Superior Court.

The next day, a palm tree was uprooted and a metal light fixture broken at Clear Lake High School.

Library windows were again smashed March 6 and 11 and a glass door was again smashed at the Pet Country store March 9.
