Two men have been arrested on suspicion of shooting a third man early Friday at a home near Petaluma.

Woodruff Hilton, 22, of Penngrove, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Sgt. Cecile Focha said. Daveon Hicks, 20, of Fairfax, was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to the assault.

Both men also were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime, obstructing an investigation and violation of probation. Both were held Friday without bail.

A neighbor called the Sheriff’s Office at 4 a.m. Friday to report that someone had been shot at a home in the 5600 block of Old Redwood Highway, Focha said. Shortly before that, at 3:44 a.m., workers at Petaluma Valley Hospital reported a man suffering from a gunshot wound had shown up seeking treatment.

The wounded man remains in an unnamed local hospital. He is expected to survive and detectives intend to interview him, Focha said.

The injured man had stopped at a 7-Eleven along North McDowell Boulevard to ask for directions to an emergency room.

“He came inside and asked ‘Where is the hospital?’” night clerk Harbans Lal told the Petaluma Argus-Courier. “He was bleeding.”
