DUI checkpoint in Santa Rosa nets three arrests

More than 600 drivers were stopped at a DUI checkpoint Saturday|

Santa Rosa police held a drunken driver checkpoint Saturday night in two locations and arrested three drivers suspected of being intoxicated while citing 35 other drivers for license violations, police reported.

The effort began at 8 p.m. on Santa Rosa Avenue at Barham Avenue. Hours later it was moved across town to Guerneville Road at Cleveland Avenue and ended at 3 a.m.

Officers stopped 657 drivers at the two sites, traffic Sgt. Ryan Corcoran said in a news release.

Two people stopped were found to be wanted on outstanding warrants. Another four citations were issued for vehicle code violations.

The three drivers arrested, all women, were from Santa Rosa and Novato and ranged in age from 23-33 years.
