A 17-year-old headed for school on his skateboard Monday morning suffered minor injuries when he and a car collided in an east Santa Rosa intersection, Santa Rosa police said.

Traffic investigators were reviewing the crash to determine who had the right-of-way, Sgt. Ryan Corcoran said Monday.

Gary Stilwell was riding his board on his way to Maria Carrillo High School just before 8 a.m. when the collision occurred.

The teen, who wasn’t wearing a helmet or any protective gear, was headed south on Calistoga Road through the Badger Road intersection.

The two collided as driver Carolina Campos, 27, of Boyes Hot Springs was headed north on Calistoga and starting to turn left onto Badger, Corcoran said. She was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. The driver wasn’t injured.

The collision occurred at 10-15 mph. The youth was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
