Santa Rosa police on Tuesday were investigating a stabbing in the parking lot of a Mendocino Avenue convenience store, emergency officials said.

The stabbing was reported at about 4 p.m. in the parking lot of a business strip mall on Mendocino Avenue between Silva Avenue and Dexter Street, emergency dispatchers said.

One person was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Police were still seeking suspects.

A worker at a nearby restaurant, who did not want to be identified, said he saw a group of men fighting as he pulled into the parking lot. He said when the men separated, one man was bleeding, and appeared to have been stabbed. The man was wounded but able to walk, he said.

The other men left in a black Dodge Charger, according to witness and police dispatch reports.

There were many people in the area at the time of the fight as well as business surveillance cameras, the restaurant worker said.

Officers were interviewing at least a half-dozen witnesses.
