Glen Ellen Star's Ari Weiswasservoted 'People's Best New Chef' for California

Food & Wine magazine has named Chef Ari Weiswasser of the Glen Ellen Star as the 2015 'The People's Best New Chef' for California.

Weiswasser was one of 10 nominees from the state vying for the award, which spotlights innovators who have run their own kitchens for five years or fewer.

At the Glen Ellen Star, the chef marries simple California ingredients with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences, highlighting the simple beauty of food from the garden.

The People's Best New Chef winners were determined via online vote. The candidate with the most votes overall was named 'The People's Best New Chef.' This year, that top award went to Chef Cory Bahr of Cotton in Monroe, LA.

The awards are an extension of the Food & Wine Best New Chefs Awards. The winners of both contests will be featured in the July 2015 issue of Food & Wine magazine.
