Lightning struck a Clearlake home Sunday night, causing damage to its roof but leaving the occupants uninjured, fire officials said.

The strike on the two-story home on ?Mira Vista Drive happened just before 6 p.m. when storm clouds blew into the area, said Capt. Bill Inman of the Lake County Fire Protection District.

He said a single bolt struck the roof above the master bedroom, leaving a 10-by-15 hole.

Damage was estimated at more than $15,000.

β€œIt did a pretty good number on it,” Inman said.

There was no fire, but the house suffered serious interior damage and lost all electrical power, he said.

He said the brief storm brought light rain and hail to parts of the county.
