Petaluma's annual salute to humankind's homeliest canine friends is looking for some really ugly dogs.

The World's Ugliest Dog Contest will be held June 26 during the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, and will award a grand prize of $1,500. The deadline for entries closed June 25.

In addition to the grand prize, a Spirit Award will be given to a dog and owner who have overcome challenges. Other awards include trophies, cash and gifts from sponsors. There has been an ugly dog contest in Petaluma for the past 50 years, and the Sonoma-Marin Fair has put on its trademarked World's Ugliest Dog Contest for the past 27 years.
