CHP officers arrested 12 people on suspicion of driving under the influence over the weekend, including the driver of a stolen BMW who tried to escape arrest while being treated at a hospital, officials said Monday.

The BMW driver, later identified as 26-year-old Estela Garcia of Santa Rosa, nearly crashed into a Sonoma County sheriff's deputy at about 3:40 a.m. Saturday after she ran a red light at Humboldt Street and Chanate Road, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said. An ambulance was called to the scene because she appeared very intoxicated and she was taken to Kaiser 's Santa Rosa hospital where she tried to escape arrest and ran through the hospital until she was apprehended, Sloat said.

Garcia was already on probation for a prior DUI conviction, and Sunday's was her fourth DUI arrest in 10 years, according to the CHP. Later Saturday, Santa Rosa police notified the CHP that the BMW's owner reported that the vehicle had been stolen.

Garcia was being held without bail Monday at the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, DUI, probation violation, resisting officers, driving with a suspended license and driving without an ignition lock device required because of her prior DUI convictions, Sloat said.

Two other drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI during separate crash investigations.

On Sunday, officers arrested a Napa woman who crashed over an embankment off Calistoga Road north of Gates Road, the CHP said. Officers brought Adrienne Dillberg, 31, to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where her blood-alcohol level was estimated at more than twice the legal limit to drive, Sloat said. Dillberg, who was on felony probation in Lake County, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and violation probation.

John Gonzalez, 29, of Santa Rosa was arrested with a blood-alcohol level estimated at three times the limit after a 9:50 p.m. crash on northbound Highway 101 near Steele Lane on Sunday, Sloat said. Gonzalez had a prior DUI conviction and his driver's license was suspended. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of drunken driving, Sloat said. The CHP impounded his Maserati coupe for 30 days.
