Fire at Napa Valley College considered suspicious

Napa police and fire officials Monday were investigating a suspicious fire that broke out during the night at Napa Valley College.

Firefighters were called to the community college at 1:07 a.m. when a fire alarm sounded, fire Capt. Zach Curren said.

They found smoke throughout the college’s main gym and flames in a gymnasium office, Curren said.

The fire was held to the office and quickly doused. The cause of the fire remained under investigation Monday but a broken gym window led officials to consider the fire suspicious, as someone may have broken into the building.

The amount of damage done wasn’t available.

Four Napa fire engines responded to the call on the Napa-Vallejo Highway.
