Multi-vehicle crash snarls Bay Bridge traffic
SAN FRANCISCO — A multi-vehicle crash on an interstate leading to the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge snarled traffic on the span just hours after officials had closed a popular access point to and from the Golden Gate Bridge.
The San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1JYYy7r ) reports Friday that the crash involved four to five vehicles west of the metering lights and caused minor injuries.
Meanwhile, in San Francisco, the main route between the Marina District and the Golden Gate Bridge was shut down Thursday night as crews work to create a new, safer version, the newspaper reported. The bridge will still be accessible from Highway 1 in San Francisco.
California Highway Patrol Officer Andrew Barclay says traffic on the Golden Gate was flowing Friday morning.
The new safer route leading to the Golden Gate will open early Monday.
