Elderly couple identified in suspected Mendocino County murder-suicide

A couple found dead in a suspected murder-suicide at their Mendocino Coast home on Saturday have been identified as Valerie Ann Morales, 77, and Martin Charles Morales, 80.

They both died of apparent gunshot wounds, according to Mendocino County Sheriff's authorities.

The married couple lived together on Navarro Ridge Road in Albion, authorities said.

They were discovered Saturday morning by a neighbor who was concerned about their welfare, sheriff's authorities said. The neighbor, who peered through a window, reported the two residents appeared to be dead. When deputies arrived, the man was still alive but he died Sunday from his injuries.

The investigation into the deaths is continuing, authorities said.

Authorities did not release other details or divulge any suspected motive in the incident.
