The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible suicide involving a man in a car found Wednesday morning in a vineyard off of Lakeville Highway.

Paramedics, firefighters and the CHP were called at about 7:10 a.m. to a possible crash off of the rural highway, southeast of Petaluma near the old Sleepy Hollow Dairy.

A worker at the vineyard reportedly found the small car and the man inside, prompting the calls for help.

Paramedics were first to arrive. They were met near the highway and led to the car, which was parked far off of the roadway, paramedic Barbara Watson said.

She and her ambulance partner determined the man was dead and that it appeared to be a suicide.

Deputies were called at about 7:25 a.m. to take over the case.

The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office also was called to the scene.
