Santa Rosa police Thursday were looking for a hit-and-run driver involved in a collision with a 20-year-old man on a skateboard.

The skateboarder, David Crowhurst of Gulf Breeze, Fla., suffered severe head injuries when he was hit shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday, Sgt. Mike Numainville said. Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital staff said Crowhurst remained in critical condition Thursday afternoon.

Crowhurst’s brother said the dark blue or black sedan drove away from the scene, heading south on St. Francis Road, Numainville said.

Police found Crowhurst in the road on St. Francis Road and El Encanto Drive in east Santa Rosa after a caller reported the crash at 12:55 a.m., Numainville said.

Anyone with information about the case can call Officer Mike Mieger at 543-3636.
