Lake County vintners detail Valley fire damage

Vineyard managers and employees have been able to resume irrigation and harvesting in most of Lake County’s vineyards.|

Lake County vintners on Wednesday estimated that 85 percent of their vineyards have not been affected by the Valley fire and that 90 percent of its wineries have resumed operations, according to Lake County Winegrape Commission.

Vineyard managers and employees are gaining access to resume irrigation and harvest operations in the vineyards, according to the commission. For example, Beckstoffer Vineyards' Amber Knolls was planning to harvest on Wednesday night.

The only winery that has been reported to be destroyed by the fire was Shed Horn Cellars, a 3,000-case winery just outside Middletown.

Sonoma and Napa counties have not been affected from the fire, according to industry officials in those two counties.
