The body of a jet skier who went missing on the Napa River was discovered early Thursday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Napa County sheriff’s officials identified her as Kelly May, 48, of Napa.

May was reported missing about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Coast Guard Lt. Marcia Medina said.

Coast Guard and Napa County deputies located her body about 7:40 a.m. in the water near the west bank, between Highways 37 and 12, Medina said.

She was wearing a life preserver, Medina said.

Medina said May had been riding the jet ski to a nearby boat launch when she was reported overdue.

The jet ski was found the night before. It was damaged, but it was unclear whether the damage was related to the cause of the crash, Medina said.

An investigation is ongoing.
