The popular Lighted Boat Parade drew thousands to downtown Petaluma on Saturday night.

A flotilla of boats festooned with holiday lights made the journey from the Petaluma Marina to the Turning Basin.

This year’s event on the Petaluma River featured a number of small craft such as kayaks and even a paddleboard, said Linda Blue of the Pacific Yacht Association. Organizers worried that the shallow river might pose a risk for larger vessels.
