Santa Rosa woman, 85, dies from crash injuries

Police continue to investigate the Jan. 10 crash.|

Santa Rosa police Monday said that a Santa Rosa woman critically injured earlier this month in a collision has died from her injuries.

Beverly Winham Ludwig, 85, died Saturday, Sgt. Mike Numainville said.

She’d been hospitalized since the Jan. 10 crash at Montecito Boulevard and Benicia Drive.

Her Toyota Prius collided with a Ram pickup driven by Austin Donald McElroy, 21, of Sonoma, at about 10:17 a.m.

Traffic officers last week were investigating which driver had the green light and witness reports that McElroy may have been speeding prior to the crash.

Ludwig was turning onto Montecito Boulevard and crashed into the pickup, which was going through the intersection.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact traffic Officer Tim Wilhelm at 543-3636.
