Reward offered in Santa Rosa home invasion, shooting

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to arrests in a Friday home invasion robbery during which a Santa Rosa man was shot in the back.

Police are seeking three Latino men who reportedly forced their way into the Roseland-area home of 41-year-old Juan Carlos Cruz Butello shortly before 10 a.m. Friday and bound him with what appeared to be zip ties after he put up a fight.

They robbed him, and one of them shot him in the back before leaving, police said.

Butello managed to loosen his binds and stumbled to the home of a neighbor, who called police.

Investigators worked into the evening without detaining any suspects.

The Sonoma County Alliance posted the reward through its Take Back Our Community Program, offering up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information can call Detective Steve Rakoski or Sgt. Steve Fraga of the Santa Rosa Police Department's Violent Crimes Team at (707) 543-3590.
