Santa Rosa police seek package thief

Police Thursday asked the public's help identifying a woman shown in surveillance video apparently stealing a package from a front porch of a home off Stony Point Road in west Santa Rosa.

The recording taken by the private camera at a Barndance Lane-area residence shows the woman walking onto the porch with a box and exchanging it for a package left for the residents, Officer Gavin Holzapfel said. The box left behind contained seeds and had been a delivery that was apparently taken from another nearby residence, Holzapfel said.

Bringing a package can make a thief look less suspicious, according to Holzapfel.

The woman appeared to be about 30 years old with brown hair, according to police. Officers suspect she left in a newer, single-cab white Nissan Frontier pickup with a male driver.
