A 37-year-old Santa Rosa man was in custody Monday at the Sonoma County Jail after a resident at his apartment complex complained he was armed and causing a disturbance, police officials said.

The resident of the Apple Valley Lane apartment complex called police to report the disturbance at 2:55 p.m. Sunday near the corner of West Steele Lane, Sgt. Dan Marincik said. Enrique Patino was reportedly driving recklessly around the complex and arguing with family members, Marincik said.

Officers found Patino in a carport, saw a bulge in his waistband that appeared to be a gun and confiscated a 9 mm handgun, Marincik said.

Patino had two warrants for his arrest and past convictions that prohibited him for having a gun. He was arrested on suspicion of felony illegal firearm and ammunition possession charges.

Patino was being held without bail Monday and is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. today in department 9.
