Ukiah man arrested after crashing into four parked cars

A Ukiah man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after driving into two parked cars and then, while trying to flee the scene, crashing into two more vehicles, one of them belonging to a woman who had pulled over to report the incident to the CHP.

CHP officials said Dennis Finley, 54, was driving west at a high rate of speed on Feedlot Lane at about 5 p.m. when he failed to make the turn at North Bush Street. Finley’s 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse crashed into a 2010 Dodge Avenger and a 1992 Chevy truck.

Officials said a woman who was a passenger with Finley got out of the car and fled, while Finley turned and sped east on Feedlot Lane.

That’s when he crashed into a 2011 Jeep Liberty, driven by Linda Holman, 47, of Ukiah. Holman had pulled over to report Finley’s erratic driving and initial crash.

Finley then continued east on the north shoulder of Feedlot Lane, crashing into a parked 1997 Honda Accord before he was stopped by a wire mesh fence. Bystanders kept Finley “under observation” until law enforcement officers arrived, according to a CHP statement.

Finley was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of a controlled substance, and CHP officers are still looking for the woman who fled the scene.

Holman was transported to Ukiah Valley Medical Center with moderate injuries, the CHP said.
