Firefighters on Tuesday extinguished a vegetation fire in a remote canyon near Geyserville that apparently was started by a mower, according to preliminary reports.

Fire crews held the blaze to about 5 acres of oak savannah on the Pocket Ranch Road property, Cal Fire officials said. The original report came with a 2 p.m. 911 call from the property that said a mower had sparked a fire, which already had spread to about an acre.

Cal Fire was leading the effort with help from Dry Creek, Healdsburg, Geyserville, Windsor, Santa Rosa and Rincon Valley crews.
