"Saturday Night Live" comedian Leslie Jones is the newest addition to the NBC team covering the Rio Olympics, after Twitter props she gave to Santa Rosa's Maya DiRado over the weekend caught the eye of network executives.

Maria Carrillo High School grad DiRado won a silver medal in the women's 400-meter individual medley on Saturday, coming in second to Hungary's ‘Iron Lady' Katinka Hosszu.

"It's cool, that's alright," the 'Ghostbusters' star, draped in stars and stripes, says in a video posted to the social media site after DiRado's impressive race, "Maya - we got silver, baby! Homegirl was just going really fast ... like, really fast."

In Rio, Jones is attending Olympic events, meeting athletes and talking about the Games on TV and online.

The next chance Jones will have to root on DiRado is during Tuesday's women's 200-meter individual medley final and the women's 200-meter backstroke on Thursday.
