Man suspected of burglarizing Covelo radio station

Mendocino County Sheriff’s officials arrested a 22-year-old Covelo man on suspicion of breaking into the community radio station and other businesses.|

A 22-year-old Covelo man was arrested on suspicion of burglarizing several businesses, including the Round Valley Community Radio station, Mendocino County sheriff’s officials said.

Michael Freeman was being held Thursday at the Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of felony burglary, vandalism and a misdemeanor probation violation in lieu of $50,000 bail, jail records show.

The burglary at Round Valley Towing near Covelo Road was reported at ?9:44 a.m. Tuesday, sheriff’s officials said. Deputies investigating the break-in then noticed the KYBU Round Valley Community Radio station on Howard Street had also been burglarized and Covelo Western Auto around the corner had been vandalized.

Deputies identified Freeman as the suspect from surveillance videos, sheriff’s officials said.

Freeman was booked Tuesday.
