River Road closed briefly in Forestville Sunday night following a two-vehicle crash, according to authorities.

Two people were taken to Santa Rosa hospitals with minor injuries after the 7:15 p.m. collision near Burke’s Canoes beach.

One driver was able to get out of his vehicle but the other vehicle stopped up against a guardrail, trapping two people. Forestville firefighters cut open a door to free them, according to Forestville fire.

The roadway was closed between Martinelli and Rio Nido roads for about 30 minutes.

Forestville fire and two ambulances, from Sonoma Life Support and Russian River fire, responded.

River Road is a major rural route between the Russian River communities and west Santa Rosa. It was closed twice last week due to crashes, once for more than 12 hours for PG&E crews to fix damaged power lines and replace a pole.
