No arrests in Green Music Center sexual assault

Sonoma State University police said they have made no arrests in a Sept. 24 sexual assault that occurred during a country music show at the campus Green Music Center.|

More than two weeks after a woman reported being sexually assaulted during a performance at the Green Music Center in Rohnert Park, Sonoma State University police have arrested no suspect in the case.

Acting university Police Chief David Dougherty said Tuesday he could provide no further detail about the nature of the assault, which occurred during a night performance Sept. 24 on Weill Lawn. About 3,000 attendees filled the lawn area to watch the country music show, with another 1,400 people inside, school officials said. The woman was not a student.

“To maintain the integrity of the investigation, I have no further information to provide,” Dougherty said.

He also would not say whether a photograph circulated by police of an unidentified “person of interest” in an investigation was a suspect in the sexual assault. Dougherty said they have not identified the man in the picture.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call campus police at 707-664-4444.
