Heavy rain storm head to Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO - Forecasters say a typhoon enhanced storm is set to sweep through the San Francisco Bay Area and slam the region with rain and heavy wind Friday morning.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/2el3gGQ) Thursday that the storm will bring moisture associated with Typhoon Songda. It wreaked havoc in the western Pacific days ago.

National Weather Service meteorologist Roger Gass says Friday afternoon will mostly consist of rain showers.

Heavy winds of up to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are also expected with Friday's storm, the newspaper reported. The storm will bring the most rain to the region since March.

Gass says that by the end of the weekend, San Francisco could see more than an inch of rain while the North Bay mountains could see up to four inches.
