Two armed men kicked down the front door of a Santa Rosa house and held a resident at gunpoint late Thursday, stealing marijuana and cash, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials said.

The resident called 911 about 9:30 p.m., moments after he said the home-invasion robbers fled the Santa Barbara Drive house near Petaluma Hill Road, Sgt. Spencer Crum said. The house is in an unincorporated pocket in the South Park neighborhood.

The resident told deputies he was held at gunpoint by a man whose face was covered with a bandanna while another man ransacked the house. He said he had “a significant amount” of processed marijuana in the house that he had grown for medical use.

He also had a large amount of cash - tens of thousands of dollars - the robbers took as well, Crum said. The resident told deputies he heard two gunshots from the back of the home, but they found no evidence a gun had been fired. He said the men spoke English with an accent.
