A Santa Rosa man and woman were arrested Friday on suspicion of stealing sheet metal and aluminum from the recycling bins at O'Hagin Manufacturing in Rohnert Park.
An officer was called to the business on Classic Court Friday morning and was shown surveillance video of a man and woman who arrived in a "distinctive looking" Ford pickup and then stole sheet metal and aluminum, according to a news release from the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.
The officer identified Jerry Gonsalves, 48, of Santa Rosa, and Cherie Rasmussen, 45, as the suspects and later found them in the truck in the 3500 block of Santa Rosa Avenue.
That morning, Gonsalves was suspected of recycling the stolen metal at Global Materials Recovery Services in Santa Rosa. Evidence showed that he had recycled the metal and cashed a check he received for it, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, petty theft and conspiracy.
Rasmussen was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, petty theft, conspiracy and an outstanding Sonoma County warrant.
Representatives of O'Hagin Manufacturing and the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety did not immediately return calls for comment.
