Chimney fire damages home near Santa Rosa

Firefighters on Friday morning extinguished a chimney fire that had spread into the walls of a home in the hills northeast of Santa Rosa.

Firefighters from Rincon Valley, Windsor and Santa Rosa responded shortly before 5:30 a.m. to the fire at a home in the 6700 block of Foothill Ranch Road, a semi-rural area north of Riebli and Wallace roads.

The fire was more difficult to extinguish once it spread into the walls, said Cyndi Foreman, public information officer for the Central Fire Authority, which manages the Windsor and Rincon Valley fire districts.

“It was a stubborn one,” Foreman said. However, the firefighters did a good job of containing the blaze, and fire and water damage was estimated at less than $50,000.

Four fire engines and three water trucks responded to the blaze.
