The weekend storm brought scattered reports of snow on peaks across the North Coast, with snow falling as low as 1,500 feet, according to the National Weather Service. While much of it didn't stick around long enough to be measurable, from Saturday morning to Monday morning, 6 inches of snow fell in Cobb, 38 inches fell at Sierra-at-Tahoe and a staggering 56 inches pounded Donner Pass, the weather service said.

The same storm brought about half an inch of rain to Santa Rosa, with twice that falling in the coastal hills, said Steve Anderson, a forecaster with the National Weather Service.

Hail, too, was part of the weekend's weather, with periods of sun on Sunday interspersed with short bursts of heavy rain and hail all across the North Coast.

By Tuesday, the storm is expected to move out of the area, with an expected high near 60. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday are projected to reach 69 degrees.

The slick roads Monday morning made for a messy commute, with the CHP reporting at least three accidents on Highway 101 near Santa Rosa and another on eastbound Highway 12 during the morning commute, though none serious, said Officer Steven Fricke.

“We've had this continuous rain, and we get our small breaks every now and then, but you can't be speeding up,” he said. “The roads are still slippery. ... Just because it's been raining for a month, we can't allow our senses to turn off. We still need to drive slow, give ourselves plenty of following distance and adjust our driving skills for the conditions.”

The weekend storm brought the seasonal rainfall total at Santa Rosa's airport to 52.61 inches - just barely shy of matching the second-most total on record. Though, with seven months left in the rain year, there's still plenty of time to edge out 1997-1998's 52.84 inches.
