Two small earthquakes struck the North Coast midday Monday and early this morning. Neither caused any reported damage.

The first was a tremor 4.0 in magnitude about 25 miles off the coast of Cape Mendocino, 46 miles southwest of Eureka in Humboldt County at 11:19am Monday.

The second, and smaller at 3.3 in magnitude, hit close to Lake Sonoma, 8 miles west of Cloverdale. The tremor was small enough that some in the Cloverdale Police and Fire Departments were unaware of it.

“Nope, I didn’t feel a thing,” said Sgt. Chris Parker, with the Cloverdale police.
