Identifying the remains of a man found dead on Judge Davis Trail in eastern Lake County on Friday will require an examination of dental records or DNA testing because the body was in poor condition, according to Lake County Sheriff’s officials. It’s unclear how long that will take.

Officials were notified that a body had been found in a remote area on the Cache Creek-area trail, about 2 miles from Highway 20 near the Colusa County line, just before midday.

They said there were no obvious signs of foul play. An autopsy is being conducted this week.
