A Glen Ellen woman on her way to work early Monday suffered injuries after her Jaguar crashed into a tree off Bennett Valley Road, according to the CHP.

Erin Appleton, 25, crashed about 7:35 a.m. while driving west on Bennett Valley Road, the CHP said, when just east of Sonoma Mountain Road the right side tires of her 1997 Jaguar ran off the road, causing her to lose control, spin and hit the tree.

The impact crushed the driver’s door inward and broke the driver’s seat from its bolts, said Darrin DeCarli, Bennett Valley fire battalion chief.

Appleton was able to get out of the car on her own and was bleeding badly, according to initial reports. She was being tended by a passerby when Bennett Valley firefighters arrived from their nearby station, DeCarli said.

She was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said. Hospital officials said she was treated and released Monday.
