Vegetation fire burns 18 acres near Petaluma

The fire broke out Sunday afternoon on Bodega Avenue near Skillman Lane.|

A vegetation fire west of Petaluma Sunday burned 18 acres, a Cal Fire spokesman said.

The fire broke out about 1 p.m. in the 5000 block of Bodega Avenue near Skillman Lane, and no structures were immediately threatened and no evacuations were ordered, the spokesman said. By 3 p.m., forward progress had been slowed.

Cal Fire had eight aircraft overhead, with six engines on the ground, with multiple Sonoma County agencies assisting.
