A man was taken to the hospital early Sunday after walking into a Santa Rosa grocery store with a gunshot wound to his head, an emergency dispatcher said.

The unidentified man walked into the Safeway on Calistoga Road about 4:40 a.m. and asked for help, the dispatcher said.

It was not clear where the shooting had occurred or the extent of his injury. However, he was able to communicate with store employees.
