The Lucky supermarket on Bicentennial Way in Santa Rosa will reopen this morning after surviving the Sonoma County wildfires and a small blaze inside its store late Wednesday, a company official announced.

An electrical fire broke out in one of its deli cases about 5:45 p.m., causing minimal damage, Lucky spokeswoman Nannette Miranda said in an email. She said no one was in the store, which closed when the wildfires broke out Oct. 8, wiping out much of the surrounding Fountaingrove neighborhood.

Despite losing much of its customer base, Miranda said there are no plans to shut down the grocery store, near the Home Depot store off Mendocino Avenue.

“Lucky Supermarkets is part of the community, and there are residents to serve,” she said. “We're optimistic about the renewal of the area.”

While the wildfires spared the store, Wednesday's flames damaged groceries and other merchandise in the store after the stand-alone deli ignited, setting off the fire-suppression sprinklers.

Santa Rosa Fire Battalion Chief Matt Dahl said a passerby noticed the flames and smoke, which filled the store. Firefighters were able to control the fire within about an hour and a half.

Miranda said the store will reopen at 7 a.m.
