Safe gardening class at Quarryhill Botanical Garden

Learn how to grow vegetables, fruits and flowers in your home garden the smart and safe way at a free class on Aug. 8.|

Gardening may not always be safe for children and other living things.

Learn how to grow vegetables, fruits and flowers in your home garden the smart and safe way based on sound science during a free class Aug. 8 at Quarryhill Botanical Garden.

Led by Master Gardener Dennis Przybycien, the workshop will cover topics such as soil quality, fertilizers, pest and disease management, weed control and water consciousness.

Przybycien, a former research chemist for Kaiser Aluminum, has a AA degree in Ornamental Horticulture. After he retired he studied viticulture and winemaking and makes award-winning wines from his own home vineyard. It is from this viticultural experience that he was learned the concept of “safe” gardening using techniques that don’t harm humans, native plants, pets, wildlife and the environment.

To secure a seat RSVP to 996-3166. Quarryhill is at 12841 Sonoma Highway 12, Glen Ellen. Quarryhillbg.org.
