Wine Country is a pooch paradise

Several Northern California businesses are rolling out the red carpet for man's best friend.|

You expect to see a poodle in a café in Paris, but in Wine Country? Oui! Northern California is beginning to resemble the City of Light when it comes to man’s best friend.

Here are some dog-friendly places that won’t disappoint:

The Tasting Room on the Green in Windsor, featuring Mutt Lynch and Deux Amis wineries, hold its Yappy Hours year-round on the second Friday of each month. The event, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., benefits a different animal-related charity each month. (9050 Windsor Rd.)

At Bardessono in Yountville you can dine with your dog on the hotel’s restaurant patio. You’re charged an extra $125 cleaning fee for pets, but who’s complaining when this hotel is so welcoming to beloved pets. (www.bardessono.com, 707-204-6000, 6526 Yount Street, Yountville.)

At Fideaux in Healdsburg biscuits are plentiful and they range from sweet potato, honey glazed chicken with apple, and turkey with apple and cheese. (www.fideaux.net, 707-433-9935, 43 North St., Healdsburg.)
