Fire at a Healdsburg lumber mill Sunday caused about $1 million in damage, fire officials said.

Firefighters were called to Nu Forest Products on Healdsburg Avenue at about 6:10 p.m., Healdsburg fire Chief Steve Adams said.

They arrived to find stacks of finished lumber 20-feet high on fire, Adams said.

It took 12 engines about three hours to put it out, he said. Firefighters used forklifts to remove the charred cedar and redwood to where it could be spread out and doused with water, Adams said.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. Adams said mill employees had been working earlier Sunday but were gone when the fire was reported.
