Sonoma County supervisors seeking lobbyists

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will hold a special public meeting Wednesday to hear presentations from five federal lobbying firms angling for the county's business.

The 8:45 a.m. meeting will be in the community and government affairs conference room, down the hall from the Board of Supervisors chambers in the main building on the county's Santa Rosa complex.

The meeting is the result of a request for proposals the county issued last fall.

Two of the firms -#8212; Alcalde - Fay and Madison Government Affairs -#8212; were under contract with the county before their deals expired this month. The contracts paid up to $62,400 annually to Alcalde - Fay and up to $38,000 annually to Madison.

The other three firms are Van Scoyoc Associates, Carmen Group and BlueWater Strategies.

The county contracts are for lobbying on federal transportation and infrastructure projects, health and human services, public safety and emergency services.
