Petaluma route to close for highway bridge work

Caltrans is closing Highway 116 under Highway 101 in Petaluma Thursday due to construction work.

The highway will be closed in both directions starting at 10 p.m. Thursday and continuing until Friday morning at 5 a.m. The roadway will be closed again Friday and Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Next week, the highway will be closed Monday and Tuesday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The closure is needed to demolish the old Highway 101 overpass, which is being widened to accommodate carpool lanes, Caltrans said.

During the closure, motorists can detour on Caulfield Lane and South McDowell Boulevard.
