Teen killed in ATV rollover near Sonoma Coast

Firefighters and law enforcement responded Wednesday night to a reported fatal off-road vehicle accident on the northern Sonoma County Coast involving a teenage male driver.

The boy, said to be 14 or 15, was found in the area of Annapolis Road and Highway 1, apparently without a pulse, according to initial law enforcement and scanner reports.

The off-road vehicle he was driving, thought to be a four-wheel ATV, had apparently overturned, said CHP Sgt. Jeff Abrams.

The boy was overdue at a nearby campground and was apparently found by a search party sent out to locate him, Abrams said.

The call to fire and medical dispatchers came in at 7:13 p.m.

Details were still unconfirmed Wednesday night because both CHP and Sonoma County Sheriff's officials had yet to complete their preliminary investigations.

Firefighters from The Sea Ranch also responded to the scene.
