Jerry Dunn named director of Sonoma County Human Services Department

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors have promoted Jerry Dunn to director of the Human Services Department overseeing social services and aid programs.

Dunn, 56, has been interim director since December 2011 and worked in the department since 1997. It is the county's largest division, with more than 680 employees and an annual budget of $242 million, including state and federal funds.

In his 16 years with the county Dunn has led implementation of federal welfare reform and been responsible for workforce investment and job search assistance programs. He was promoted to assistant director for human services in 2007, and subsequently oversaw budget, personnel, contracts, purchasing, fraud investigations and other programs.

The salary range position is $149,244 to $181,404. Dunn's pay will be set by the Board of Supervisors and announced at the Feb. 26 board meeting.

As interim director, his 2012 pay was $178,900, not including $13,500 in leave cashouts and $2,000 in mileage reimbursements.
