Woman airlifted after off-road vehicle crash near Annapolis

A woman injured in an off-road vehicle rollover Sunday near Annapolis was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.

A companion with the woman reported the crash at 3:18 p.m. on Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road, emergency dispatchers said.

The Sheriff's Department Henry 1 helicopter crew reached the woman in a remote area with limited access, said Deputy Chris Mahoney, a tactical flight officer. They used a long-line to lower a paramedic to the woman, who had traumatic injuries including broke bones, Mahoney said.

They flew the woman at the end of the line to an area where the chopper could land, put her into the aircraft and then flew her to Memorial, Mahoney said.

The woman's name was not immediately available.
