Lake County sheriff's officials have identified David Allen Ferrell, 29, of Clearlake as the man who was shot and killed Sunday in the aftermath of a fist fight earlier in the day.
Ferrell and two others were shot while standing outside of a home in a rural residential neighborhood. Ferrell died at the scene and the other victims were hospitalized.
The suspected shooter was Joshua Beavers, 24, of Clearlake, said Clearlake police Sgt. Nick Bennett.
Beavers and three other suspected accomplices went to the neighborhood together, said Clearlake police Sgt. Nick Bennett.
"They went down there to have a fist fight and they took a gun to a fist fight," Bennett said.
They were looking for a man who had been in a fight earlier in the day with one of the suspects. They didn't find him but while in the neighborhood Beavers fired a .22-caliber handgun and struck Ferrell in the head, killing him, Bennett said.
Returning to their vehicle Beavers then fired wildly, wounding the other two victims, Bennett said.
The four suspects remained in custody Wednesday. They were arraigned in Lake County court Tuesday afternoon.
Beaver was charged with 11 felonies, including murder, attempted murder and being an ex-felon with a handgun. Lake County Jail records listed his bail at $2.9 million.
Angel Esquivel, 50, Orlando Esquivel, 48, and Brenden Alicea, 26, all of Clearlake, were arraigned on felony conspiracy.
They are suspected of helping Beavers, including by hiding him or hiding evidence. Bail for each was set at $250,000.
A search of the neighborhood turned up the handgun and a shotgun hidden in bushes. Bennett said the guns were dumped after the shooting.
