WOMAN KILLED IN HIGHWAY 29 CRASH
A 76-year-old Clearlake woman was killed Friday and another driver
seriously injured in a head-on collision that closed Highway 29 in Lake County
for more than an hour.
The woman's name was not released pending notification of her family, the
CHP said. Authorities also withheld the name of the 85-year-old Clearlake Oaks
man who suffered major injuries in the 9:50 a.m. crash, saying his family
hadn't been contacted.
The collision occurred just north of Hofacker Lane between Lower Lake and
Hidden Valley. The woman, driving southbound, drifted into northbound traffic
for unknown reasons, the CHP said.
Her 2004 Ford Focus collided with the 2005 Chevrolet Impala driven by the
Clearlake Oaks man, the CHP said.
The incident closed Highway 29 for nearly 90 minutes.
The injured man was taken by air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
His condition was not known.
