Petaluma seeks additional planning, youth commission applicants

Petaluma is accepting additional applications for seats on the Planning Commission and the Youth Commission.

Last week, the council was unable to reach a majority vote on any of three applicants for a seat on the Planning Commission, so the search was reopened.

Council members also deadlocked on an adult appointment to the Youth Commission.

Three planning commission applicants applied for a four-year opening created when newly appointed commissioner JT Wick took Sonoma County's top planning job last month.

The council split 3-3 on Daryl Johnson and Houston Porter. Councilman Mike Harris, a potential tie-breaker, did not attend the meeting.

The council agreed to reopen the application process for both seats, setting a deadline of 5 p.m. Dec. 30. The council is scheduled to vote on appointments at its Jan. 6 meeting.

Applications and full descriptions of the positions are available at the city clerk's office, City Hall, 11 English St., Petaluma. More information: 778-4360 or www.cityofpetaluma.net.
