Wish list highlights

The two members of the U.S. House of Representatives for the North Coast, Democrats Lynn Woolsey (7th District) and Mike Thompson (1st District) have submitted requests totaling $864 million for special federal project funding, called earmarks, for the 2011 federal budget. Many of these, however, are duplicate requests.

Here's a sampling:

$7 million: Sonoma Valley Hospital renovation/construction work

$1 million: Additional services at the Sonoma County Family Justice Center in Santa Rosa

$2 million: Sonoma County health action prevention and planning

$80 million: Facilities, vessels and operations for nation's 14 marine sanctuaries

$53 million: Federal Arts in Education program

$50 million: HUD sweat-equity low income housing projects

$6.1 million for Sonoma County Water Agency for water recycling

$3.5 million: Replacement of Pacific Way bridge in Marin County

$8.5 million: Petaluma River dredging and flood control work

$1.6 million: To SSU for the Sonoma Network for Environmental Technology for data collection from state nature preserves

$16.1 million: Bay Area Regional water recycling project

$3 million: Develop a 6.85-acre parcel for bus and employee parking at the West County Transportation Agency based in Santa Rosa

$33.4 million: Napa River dredging and flood control work

$3.9 million: Sutter Lakeside Rural health Clinic in Lake County

$2.5 million: for Mendocino County health clinics

$750,000: Live Oak Senior Center in Lakeport

$3 million: UC Davis research into Pierces Disease, a grape vine-killing disorder

$2 million: Sonoma County Sheriff airborne drug detection and location program

$10 million: Renovation of NASA and Navy hangar at Moffett Field

$20.1 million: Various Sacramento River and delta levee work

$12.5 million: Sacramento River deep water ship channel

$3.9 million: Construction of emergency operations center in Arcata

$2 million: Education grants to tribes

$7 million: Mendocino woodlands rehabilitation project

$1.7 million: Sonoma Valley Regional Library renovation

$6.6 million: Final design and site preparation for new passenger terminal at Del Norte County Regional Airport

$3 million: Design work and feasibility studies for new Healdsburg Bridge across the Russian River
